STARTED FROM THE BOTTOM THAT WAS 9 YEARS AGO NOW I'M HERE
Hoping to make this the time to get back into drawing, dA makes a great reason to look back on old posts to highlight my best, which will inspire me to continue!
An entry for BluC
's gijinka contest easily made me realize that this was my style - a style with no lines and just clean flat colors. Using BluC's design was an easy way for me to recognize that this style made contrasting and bright colors look great, and ever since I drew this, I aimed to create more pieces like this one.
So many years in the Sonic fandom was spent on fan characters instead of official characters. As Sonic Colors was announced, I was so excited that I immediately pre-ordered the game and started drawing a piece dedicated to the game. This piece took around a day but it is one of my favorite works. While Sonic is flat, the wisps look real and as if they were popping out. I may not have made the main character look good but his sidekicks are looking great.
Entering Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt fandom and my first drawing ever for them was Scanty. Scanty was just a total badass with awesome colors that I knew I had to use. I love the girls' devilish eyes so I put the main focus on just her colors and just her eye. This piece is easily one of my favorites to today.
The knee-bending avatar that got me on the map! I made this avatar for myself and it lead to other people being interested and wanting commissions. I've made +80
of these icons for various deviants and it's always made me feel proud and happy to see the little bouncy guys as I scroll around. They used to be a big hit in the Sonic community to the point people stole my avatars and edited them, took their orders without paying, and even begged me to make avatars or else they won't be my friends. They've given me a lot of attention and views but after I became inactive on deviantART, those views went from triple to the occasional four digits down to single digits. While they're no longer as popular, they still make me happy knowing that I started a craze.
Sonic fandom, I'm back! Or not really. Being young and creative means creating lots and lots of characters. But growing up and growing as an artist means noticing a lot of shallow characters with no depth. I am now looking back and reworking characters to fit more into the Sonic world. Working on my style and working on their history, I'm removing characters from my roster and prioritizing which ones need more work. Hopefully one day, I can come back with an appropriate biography and reference of each character.Nine years
on deviantART and I'm so glad for each and every one of them. I've been through a lot of fads and fanbases that allowed me to try new styles and meet new communities but no matter what's the latest thing, I'll always have all of deviantART as a community to come home to.
Happy 14th Birthday, deviantART.
